Parents’ Council of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a support group of committed Islander parents involved in activities which promote the University, and enrich the college experience for both students and parents. It also enhances communication among parents and the University. The Parents’ Council helps Islander families stay connected, well informed and engaged in the academic lives of students.
This giving society makes possible opportunities for students that build upon their academic strengths and practice what they learn in the classroom. Often funding can fall short to pay the costs of students to attend national conferences, compete in regional and national events, and travel to engage in academic research.
Parents’ Council funds provide unrestricted dollars that can meet the most pressing needs of students, as well as maintaining state-of-the-art facilities, providing mentoring and tutoring labs, and purchasing the latest technology equipment.

Elva Rodriguez has a daughter who is a sophomore at TAMUCC. She also has a son who is a junior at Blessed John Paul II High School. Her husband, Ralph M. Rodriguez is a native of Corpus Christi and an attorney here. They relocated to Corpus Christi twelve years ago. The family loves to travel and are admitted “Foodies”, always scheduling great meals while traveling.
She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and worked as a labor negotiator for over 25 years with several Fortune 10 companies. Today, she works along with her husband.
Elva has volunteered throughout her life, starting at the age of ten when she accompanied her mother. Over the years she has served on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity in Dallas, the ACLU in Dallas, the City of Dallas licensing board for SOB. She was a member of the Dallas Junior League,
In Corpus Christi, she has been a member of the Corpus Christi Junior League and has served as an officer of the St. James Episcopal School parent association. Elva will also be the President of the PTO at Blessed John Paul II High School for the upcoming school year. She has also volunteered at her church, St. Pius X Catholic Church as a catechist, director of Religious Education and currently serves as Eucharistic Minister. She is working on the Strategic Planning Committee at Blessed John Paul II High School and the Diocese of Corpus Christi Strategic Plan.
